What is the 'perfect' match? Or is there even such a thing?

The other night, as I was pairing up my Hazelnut Chocolate Macarons, it struck me - is there such thing as the "perfect" match?

Before filling the ganache on one side of the macaron, you usually take a few moments to match the macaron up first, as its rare that all your macaron will end up being the exact same size. But, as I was pairing them up, I realized, there is definitely, more than one macaron cookie that matches up well to the other macaron cookie. How do I decide which is the best fit? This then led me to think, is there more than one person out there that could be the right fit for you? I mean, we all strive to find this "perfect" match, our soul-mate, our one and only, but is it possible, that there is more than one of those people around? And is it possible to make it the right fit, by simply re-aligning oneself, or re-positioning yourself (as we often do for macaron cookies, rotate them for the perfect fit)?

Beyond there being multiple people that can potentially be the "one" - I also realized, that more often that not, the perfect match, was the macaron cookie right next to the one being matched up all along. Who would have thought?!?! I didn't have to find another cookie from another tray to match up to one on this one - the one that fit "perfectly" often was the one right next to it. Does that mean, that we sometimes look too far for this perfect person, and often overlook the person that is right there in front of us? Are we looking too far for this "perfect" match? Is there, even such thing?

Beyond this thought, these macarons tasted delish and pretty "perfect" - all of them! xx
